Fasting is during the Holy month of Ramadan, and Allah mentions fasting in Quran verses many times. Fasting is the fourth pillar of Islam. In Arabic it called” Sawm” ۔ The Holy book Qur’an, is the main source of Islamic teachings. Fasting in Quran verses mentioned about 13 times. . In the Holy Qur’an, the fast is an act of deep personal worship.
During the Holy month of Ramadan, all Muslims are required to abstain from food ,drink, smoking and sexual Activities. Muslims eat a prefast meal known as Suhur. This meal often resembles breakfast, but some Muslims it may include more dinner-like foods. SAWM is observed from dawn to sunset for 30 days in a month of Ramadan. The Holy month Ramadan occurs on the ninth month of the lunar-based Islamic calendar.
As of Islam, importance of fasting in Quran verses during the month of Ramadan is mandatory for all healthy adult Muslims . It is the act of worship and a chance to get closer to Allah. Fasting is a way to learn patience and break bad habits. Due to fasting we can feel a pain of poor people.
Fasting in Quran verses that Allah says:
“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may develop God-consciousness.” (Quran -2:183).
“The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an. A guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.” — (Quran- 2:185)
Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may attain taqwaa.” (Quran-2:183)
“(Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will,- it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew.” (Quran- 2: 184)
In the Hadith The Messenger of Allah, The last Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW):
بخاری 920: آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” جنت میں ایک دروازہ ہے جسے ” ریان “ کہتے ہیں . اس دروازہ سے قیامت کے دن روزہ دار داخل ہوں گے ، ان کے سوا کوئی ( بھی اس دروازے سے ) داخل نہ ہو گا ۔ کہا جائے گا روزہ دار کہاں ہیں ؟ پس وہ اٹھ کھڑے ہوں گے . ان کے سوا کوئی اس دروازہ سے داخل نہ ہو گا پھر جس وقت وہ داخل ہو جائیں گے تو دروازہ بند کر لیا جائے گا . غرض اس دروازہ سے کوئی داخل نہ ہو گا “۔
“… whoever fasts during Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Imam Bukhari).
بخاری 919: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” روزہ ( عذاب الٰہی کے لیے ) ڈھال ہے. پس روزہ دار کو چاہیے کہ فحش بات نہ کہے اور جہالت کی باتیں ( مثلا مذاق ، جھوٹ ، چیخنا چلانا اور شوروغل مچانا وغیرہ ) بھی نہ کرے اور اگر کوئی شخص اس سے لڑے یا اسے گالی دے تو اسے چاہیے کہ دو مرتبہ کہہ دے کہ میں روزہ دار ہوں ۔ قسم اس ذات کی جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے کہ روزہ دار کے منہ کی خوشبو اللہ کے نزدیک مشک کی خوشبو سے بھی زیادہ عمدہ ہے. ( اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے کہ ) روزہ دار اپنا کھانا پینا اور اپنی خواہش و شہوت میرے لیے چھوڑ دیتا ہے ۔ ( تو ) روزہ میرے ہی لیے ہے اور میں ہی اس کا بدلہ دوں گا اور ہر نیکی کا ثواب دس گنا ملتا ہے ( لیکن روزہ کا ثواب اس سے کہیں زیادہ ملے گا” )
بخاری 923: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : ” جب رمضان آتا ہے تو آسمان ( یعنی جنت ) کے دروازے کھل جاتے ہیں اور دوزخ کے دروازے بند ہو جاتے ہیں اور شیاطین مضبوط ترین زنجیروں سے جکڑ دیے جاتے ہیں” ۔
