Namaz e janaza is the Islamic funeral prayer but some peoples don’t know about how to pray Namaz e Janaza. In Islam the Funeral Prayer is called a Farhd e Kafaya that means if anyone prays the prayers, all other are free from the responsibility. In Arabic this is called a Salat e Janaza. A group of Muslims Gathering to met the worship of God (Allah) to request forgiveness for a died person and all Muslims who have died. Salat e Janaza is also called a Islamic funeral rituals. Namaz e janaza is the obligation prayer for All Muslims.

بخاری 44: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : جو شخص کسی مسلمان کے جنازے کے پیچھے ایمان کا تقاضا اور ثواب سمجھ کر جاتا ہے اور جب تک کہ اس پر نماز نہ پڑھ لے اور اس کے دفن سے فراغت حاصل نہ کر لے ، اس کے ہمراہ رہتا ہے تو وہ دو قیراط ثواب لے کر لوٹتا ہے ( اور ان میں سے ) ہر ایک قیراط احد ( پہاڑ ) کے برابر ہوتا ہے اور جو شخص ( صرف ) جنازہ پڑھ لے پھر تدفین سے پہلے لوٹ آئے تو وہ ایک قیراط ثواب لے کر لوٹتا ہے ۔
Now here is some basic steps that before prayer peoples should know that how to pray Namaz e Janaza. It is slightly different from other prayer/Namaz. There is No Adhan or Iqamah for the Salat E Janaza. Just like other Salat/Prayer having a Wudu is important. The Salat e Janazah is a silent prayer except for the Takbirs (Allahu Akbar) and Tasleem (salam) at the end.
There is no Ruku and Sajdah in Namaz e janazah. In Salat e janazah the deceased is placed in front of Imam. The Imam standing alone in front of deceased and facing the qiblah. If the Janazah for a man the Imam will stand with the head of the deceased. If the Janazah for woman, the Imam will stand in the middle.
How to Pray Namaz e Janaza Step by Step;
The Namaz e Janazah prayer is only one rakah and four takbirs (saying Allahu Akbar loudly). Muqtadee should make the niyyat, “I make the niyyat for the prayer of this janaza for Allah, duaa for this deceased, behind this imam.” Now the Imam and muqtadee should raise their hands up and Start with the following easy Takbir Steps of Namaz E Janazah:
Step #1 – The First Takbir
The Imam leading Namaz e Janazah will say the first takbir loudly (i.e. Allahu Akbar). Follow the Imam and raise your hands up to the ears or shoulders and then fold them. Placing the right hand over the left just like you would do in the normal five daily prayers.
Seek Refuge in Allah from Shaytan
After Takbir when you folded your hands, reciting the Qur’an but first seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan (Satan) the accursed.
Read this silently.
Recite the first chapter of the Qur’an – The Opener (Surah Al-Fatiha)
Now Recite this Dua Sana silently
Step #2 – The Second Takbir
The Imam leading the Janazah prayer will say the second takbir out loud (i.e. Allahu Akbar). Raise your hands to the shoulders/ears when the Imam says takbir. Then fold your hands.
Recite Salutations on Prophet Muhammad and his family
After second takbir, fold you hands and Next pray to Allah to send His peace and blessings upon Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his family.
Step #3 – The Third Takbir
The Imam leading the Janazah prayer will say the third takbir out loud (i.e. Allahu Akbar).
Raise your hands to the level of the shoulders/ears when the Imam says takbir. Then fold your hands.
Supplicate (Du’a) for the deceased
Now you will supplicate to Allah and seek forgiveness and mercy for the deceased.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) would make various supplications (duas) for the deceased. Some of them I have mentioned below from the Sunnah.

Step #4 – The Fourth Takbeer
The Imam leading the Janazah prayer will say the fourth and final takbir out loud (i.e. Allahu Akbar).
Raise your hands to the level of the shoulders/ears when the Imam says takbir. Then fold your hands.
You may continue to seek forgiveness and supplicate for the deceased if the Imam is silent for a while.
End the Prayer with Taslim
After the duaa, say Allahu Akbar last takbir and now drop the hands and then turn the head both sides for salaam.The Imam will conclude the Janazah prayer by turning his head to the right and saying the Taslim. “As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāh”.
